American Councils Innovation serves as a dedicated international network to support international business and technology exchange. Through working visits to the United States and customized virtual programs, American Councils Innovation services connects selected international startups to U.S. mentors, business development experts, potential partners, researchers, and industry associations.

Startups, university faculty members, regional economic development organizations, or students working outside of the United States are eligible to participate. We encourage applications from startups with a product or prototype looking to scale in the global market. We encourage applications from startups working in healthcare, education technology, and engineering.



In-Person Virtual
  • Participation in 2-week customer development workshops and industry specific partnership matching in the United States
  • Analysis of technology and market (patents, market size, competitors, and potential customers)
  • Logistical support
  • 1-on-1 virtual mentoring with business development experts;
  • Interactive monthly webinars with industry experts, investors, and business professionals;
  • Analysis of technology and market evaluation (patents, market size, competitors, and potential customers)
Requirements Commitment: Must be available to travel to the United States. Contact person must devote 1-2 hours per week with American Councils to prepare for exchange program.
Selection: Industry-specific cohorts
Commitment: Contact person should devote 1-2 hours per week to develop their project with American Councils via Skype/email over a 6 month period.
Selection: Up to 10 projects/startups

American Councils is a non-profit organization with the mission to advance international exchange in innovation and entrepreneurship. We do not take company equity in exchange for providing services. Selected startups may be eligible for travel support in the United States. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
